We are looking for a Research Engineer to join the Cryo-EM unit at SciLifeLab, hosted at Stockholm University's Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopy technology.
About the Position
The role involves maintaining high-end cryo-EM instrumentation and supporting users across molecular and cellular research. You will be part of a dynamic team at one of Europe's leading cryo-EM facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment maintenance and collaboration with system engineers
- Training users in sample preparation and data collection
- Guidance on data processing using state-of-the-art pipelines
- Development of cryo-ET and volume EM capabilities
- Support for collaborative projects across Sweden and Nordic countries
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in structural biology, biophysics, cell biology, or related field
- Hands-on experience operating cryo-EM instruments for data collection and analysis
- Expertise in either single-particle cryo-EM or tomography/subtomogram averaging
- Strong technical, communication, and teaching abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with volume EM or micro-ED techniques
- Track record of method development in cryo-EM/ET
- Experience working in a core facility or multi-user environment
