A 3-day hands-on workshop covering the full CryoET and subtomogram averaging pipeline — tilt series alignment and reconstruction, tomogram visualisation and archiving, particle picking, and subtomogram averaging, refinement and classification — using nextPYP, TomoBEAR and Warp/M, taught by their developers.
Cryoelectron tomography (CryoET) and subtomogram averaging (STA) are emerging techniques for structural biologists. This workshop, hosted at SciLifeLab in Stockholm on 2–4 December 2026, provides training in some of the most recent developments in CryoET and STA data processing using nextPYP, TomoBEAR and Warp/M — taught by the developers themselves.
The workshop provides hands-on training encompassing all stages of the pipeline: alignment and reconstruction of tilt series, tomogram visualisation and archiving, particle selection and extraction, and subtomogram alignment, averaging, refinement and classification.
No previous experience is required. Participants are required to bring their own laptops with a mouse.
Participants are selected on the basis of applications describing their current research projects and plans. Priority is given to participants who are currently doing cryoET and are users of the SciLifeLab cryo-EM facilities.

The fee covers attendance on all three course days, lunches, coffee and refreshments on the course dates, course materials, a certificate of attendance, and the course dinner on the second night. It does not cover hotel, travel expenses, breakfasts, or dinners other than the course dinner.
The workshop is organised by the SciLifeLab Cryo-EM Infrastructure Unit together with CryoNET.
